Accommodation | DNT Narvik actively works to inspire more people to experience the stunning nature of the region. The organization aims to ensure that everyone, from beginners to experienced hikers, can traverse the mountains safely and joyfully. DNT Narvik is based on volunteerism, and a dedicated team of volunteers works to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy outdoor life.
The association operates and maintains 15 cabins scattered across the beautiful mountains surrounding Narvik. The cabins provide visitors with a safe and comfortable place to stay after a day of adventure. In addition to cabin management, DNT Narvik marks and maintains hiking trails and bridges.
DNT Narvik's responsibilities include the construction, maintenance, and operation of the association's cabins, as well as trail marking and bridge building. Additionally, the association organizes group trips and spreads information about its offerings to encourage more people to enjoy nature in a positive way.
DNT Narvik welcomes everyone to join in on the hikes. Through shared experiences in nature, memories are created that last a lifetime.
Practical Information
All cabins are equipped with firewood for heating and gas stoves for cooking. The cabins provide all necessary kitchen utensils, as well as cups, plates, and cutlery for dining.
Guests must bring their own food.
All trash must be carried down from the mountains by the guests themselves.
The toilets are supplied with toilet paper.
The beds come with duvets and pillows, but guests must bring their own sheet sleeping bag or sleeping bag.
It’s also a good idea to bring your own matches.
Remember to bring your DNT cabin key.
- Remember there is a separate key for Stordsteinshytta and Vokterboligen.
Each cabin typically has a main cabin and an emergency shelter. All standard cabins use the DNT key, while the shelters remain open.
Keys are available for purchase at the Tourist Information in Narvik, or by contacting DNT Narvik.
Storsteinshytta has its own key.
